Resilia was founded by Louisiana entrepreneur and social change agent Sevetri Wilson as a spinoff of her nonprofit strategic communications and management firm Solid Ground Innovations. One of SGI’s very first services was what is now Resilia’s “Exempt Me Now” product, a streamlined way for founders to incorporate and gain 501(c)(3) status for new nonprofits.
Drawing on SGI’s success, ExemptMeNow was launched as a standalone tech platform in November 2016. We built it from the ground up specifically to streamline the messy and complex paperwork involved in incorporating and gaining tax-exempt status for client nonprofits.
However, that still left a big piece of the puzzle missing: what were the major resources that a nonprofit needs after they successfully gain 501(c)(3) status?
That realization led us to develop further technology for mission-driven organizations: not just through the startup phase, but through the entire nonprofit life cycle. With that in mind, in February of 2019, Exempt Me Now was rebranded to Resilia.
Now our software still helps new nonprofits file for incorporation and tax-exemption, but also serves existing organizations through a maintenance and compliance platform. Additionally, our Enterprise model assists grant-deploying entities (such as city governments, private foundations, secretary of state offices, and corporate giving programs) in managing their grantee relationships by offering custom data dashboards, subscription services, and key partnership opportunities.
