Founded in 1968 by Harold Callais, Callais Cablevision was among the first cable TV operators in Louisiana. The firm built systems across Lafourche, Terrebonne and Jefferson Parishes. In addition to carrying local and distant television signals in its lineup, Callais Cablevision produced and carried an extensive offering of local origination programming, covering local news, sports, politics, Cajun French, entertainment, and hurricane coverage.

Callais Cablevision was chosen as the Member of The Year by the American Cable Association in 1999, and also received Nicholls State University’s Corporate Mark of Honor in 1998. Callais Cablevision had 12,500 subscribers and just under 40 employees as of the time of its sale in 2003.
