SWDI was on the Inc 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the US over five consecutive years

Founded in 1978 by Harold Callais and a business partner, SWDI, LLC was a residential, commercial, recycling, and industrial waste collection firm that operated throughout Southeast Louisiana. SWDI at the time of sale had 350 employees and 128 collection vehicles and serviced over 141,000 households and 6,000 businesses.

SWDI was on the Inc 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the US over five consecutive years. After the sale of Callais Cablevision, Corey went to lead SWDI as its CEO. Over Corey’s tenure, SWDI saw revenues grow from $18.57 million in 2004 to over $42.1 million in 2009 (CAGR 17.8%).

SWDI sold to IESI, Inc. (acquired by Progressive Waste Solutions, Ltd., acquired by Waste Connections, Ltd.) for $62 million in 2010. At the time of its sale, SWDI was the 12th largest private waste company in the United States.
