Callais Capital Leads $8 Million Series A in Nonprofit Software Startup Resilia

May 14, 2020: Callais Capital Management, a leading regionally-focused venture capital firm, is pleased to announce its participation as lead investor in an $8 million capital raise for Resilia, a New Orleans, LA based nonprofit software platform founded by serial entrepreneur Sevetri Wilson. Resilia intends to use the capital to accelerate product development, grow sales and marketing, and expand services to its growing network of nonprofit partners across the US. The company plans to add positions across all departments at their New Orleans, LA headquarters and other locations across the US.

Callais Capital Management led the Series A investment round for Resilia with participation from Mucker Capital, Cultivation Capital, Engage Ventures, Next Wave US Impact Fund, The JumpFund, and Alan Franco. In addition to being one of the largest series A rounds of an enterprise software company headed by an African American female founder, this financing also marks the highest venture capital raise by a female-founded tech company in the state of Louisiana.

Resilia is a streamlined solution for nonprofits to incorporate and gain 501(c)(3) status and for enterprise groups to manage grantor and grantee relationships. The technology platform assists nonprofits in filing for incorporation and tax-exemption and has expanded to also serve existing organizations through a maintenance and compliance platform.

“We’re excited to partner with Sevetri and the Resilia team. They have made a tremendous impact by building an innovative platform for both nonprofit startups and for some of the world’s largest foundations, and we look forward to helping them continue to scale. A platform like Resilia is a necessary component during a time of crisis such as this one to ensure oversight, management, and transparency. Despite the horrible COVID-19 Pandemic, Resilia has already seen tremendous opportunity in the last several weeks with the subsequent deployment of funding specifically earmarked for such relief” said Hal Callais, Managing Partner & CIO at Callais Capital.

After ten years of working with nonprofits, foundations and grant makers, Resilia’s founder, Sevetri Wilson knew that public good organizations deserved the same kind of transformative impact that technology had brought to the private sector. Resilia’s B2C software targets both small to mid-sized startups through their automated filing platform and existing nonprofits through a subscription-based maintenance and compliance platform. Additionally, Resilia’s Enterprise model assists grant-deploying entities (e.g. city governments, private foundations, and corporate giving programs) in managing their grantee relationships by offering custom data dashboards, subscription services, and key partnership opportunities. From tax-exemption to compliance maintenance, Resilia has become a one-stop shop to create and maintain high performing nonprofit organizations.
